Both Richard Kennedy and Thomas Harrington have trained as, and practice as Mediators.
Richard Kennedy trained as a Mediator in Ireland and has mediated many disputes. He was appointed as a mediator with the Private Residential Tenancies Board in 2003, and at present as an Adjudicator with the Board, continues to act as a mediator in these disputes. He has also mediated in commercial disputes and family disputes.
Thomas Harrington worked as a trial lawyer, Partner and Director of a large American law firm for 25 years before relocating to Ireland in 2004. He was a pioneering advocate of the use of mediation in his career as a Lawyer.
From his extensive experience Tom is convinced that for many matters, mediation presents the better alternative. Over the last 15 years, Mr. Harrington has participated in approximately 50 successful mediations, mostly involving complex business or tort disputes.
Richard and Thomas are members of the Mediators Institute of Ireland.
It is a fact that many people are apprehensive about engaging in the mediation process because they fear that a willingness to negotiate will be interpreted as a sign of weakness.
However that does not follow.
To agree to mediate with another is nothing more than saying: "I will listen to you, if you will listen to me." That is the starting point of all conflict resolution.
