Richard Kennedy, BA, LL,B Solicitor, FCi. arb

Qualified as a Solicitor in 1980. His practice and experience is in general practice with an emphasis on Litigation, Commercial Law and dispute resolution.

In March 1999 he was admitted as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. He is a member of the Law Society panel of Arbitrators.

In April 2003, he successfully completed an intensive mediation course and is now a member of the Mediators Institute of Ireland.

In 2003 he was appointed as a Mediator with the the Private Residential Tenancies Board, and has conducted many successful mediations in that role.

In June 2004 he and was appointed as an Adjudicator with the the Private Residential Tenancies Board and determines Adjudication hearings on a frequent basis.

In 2005 appointed as a Tribunal Chairperson for the newly formed Mental Health Tribunals under the Mental Health Act 2001 and regularly chairs such Tribunals. He was appointed as and acts as an Arbitrator panel member and Chair of the Dispute Resolution Authority, which is a body formed to hear and arbitrate on disputes arising within the G.A.A.

He has also been appointed as Presiding Officer of the Board of Enquiry under the Garda Siochana Disciplinary Regulations for the purpose of hearing Garda disciplinary matters.

Geraldine Cleary obtained a degree in European Studies; Law and German, from the University of Limerick in 1994. She qualified as a Solicitor in 1998.

During her legal training Geraldine worked as a legal research student with a commercial law firm in Germany. Having qualified as a Solicitor, Geraldine spent a year in Australia working as an Assistant Solicitor with one of the top Five Law firms in Australia.

Geraldine has also successfully completed the Law Society Property taxation course and has been awarded the Diploma In Property Taxation. She is also an Associate of the Institute of Taxation, an award which is recognised as the pre-eminent qualification for Tax professionals in Ireland.

Geraldine is fluent in both German and French.

Thomas Harrington B.A. J.D. worked as a trial lawyer, Partner and Director of a large American law firm for 25 years before relocating to Ireland in 2004.

Tom’s career now extends over 30 years on two continents during which time he has litigated hundreds of matters of all types in Court. But for many matters, especially business disputes, mediation has often presented a better alternative.

Tom was an early advocate of the use of mediation as an alternative to the Courtroom and over the last 15 years has acted in over 50 successful mediations, mostly involving complex business and tort disputes.

- Awarded Degree of Bachelor of Arts (University of Colorado at Boulder, USA) 1975.
- Awarded Degree of Juris Doctorate (Marquette University Law School, USA) 1979.
- Admitted to Bar 1979.
- Accreditation (Part I) Mediators Institute of Ireland and the Association for Conflict Resolution (ACR) USA 2000.
